Pardo's Grand Buffet Mexicano Restaurant & Taqueria: Authentic Mexican Buffet Experience in Kansas City

I was here for lunch after deciding on a new buffet to try for an overall new experience. This place didn't disappoint. The interior decor was that of a small café decorated with framed artwork of Mexican history and maps. There were no frills elsewhere in the restaurant, and there was open seating. The wait staff made me feel very welcomed and was attentive and friendly. The buffet was small and filled with delicious looking food. I love an adventure, but being non Hispanic, I was very disappointed in the fact that the food's on the buffet was not labeled. Being a big fan of Mexican food and flavors, I did recognize certain dishes such as the Mole chicken, Pozole, and the Menudo. All 3 of which tasted amazing! Other items offered on the buffet were stewed meats for tacos, chicken flautas, sweet potatoes, fried stuffed poblano, and some type of tamales. I wish the rice porridge they had for dessert would've been served cold and less runny as it reminded me of eating cooked oatmeal for breakfast. All the food was cooked well but very under seasoned and bland. Each table had a salt dispenser, and there was a seasoning dispensary section above the cold food's bar (sour cream, salsa, limes, veggies ect), I'd assume it was for you to add seasoning to your plate as desired to your personal taste (something I did in addition to the Mexican hot sauce offered). If you enjoy seafood, the buffet had it from scallops in a stew, whole fried tilapia, to the heads-on shrimp soup (the fresh shrimps still had the veins, but that is to expected outside of any expensive seafood restaurant). I noticed all the other customers' dining inside with me (mostly all who were Hispanic) paid for their meals with cash (unsure the bill used). When I paid my bill, 1x buffet with water, I used a credit card and was charged a fee of $20.00. Beforehand, I made sure to eat my fair share of shrimp and fried fish, so I won't knock their hustle if I got overcharged. Overall, this place is definitely worth a try if you are a restaurant goer like myself. I would not make plans to revisit eating here on purpose, but I wouldn't be against it if it happens to happen.

We came to this restaurant to try out Mexican food and we were not disappointed. This is authentic Mexican food, something that your grandmother would cook for you in Mexico. The service was awesome! The friendly environment and the Christian songs made us feel like we were at mom's house. I highly recommend this place.

Good food for the price! The place was very clean and everyone was friendly. You go to where the food is and tell the server what you would like and they serve it for you. No need to touch anything besides your plate. We will definitely be back for more next time

I have been to this delightful restaurant twice and both of my experiences have been beyond what I expected. The food is homemade! There is a great variety from of proteins (beef, pork, chicken, and some vegetarian options). I highly recommend this place for anyone who is a search of a home cooked meal.
